Shameful aren’t I?

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

So long without a post. The thing is, now the drama is done, there isn’t so much to say. The Rubster smiles now (properly not wind) which is a delightful thing to see.

She has a cold at the moment which means her almost perfect sleeping and feeding pattern has gone tits up. O well.

On another crappy note, Amanda got taken into hospital last week. She has had a cough/cold for a while and rang me the other day in a big panic because she couldn’t breathe. Short story is she ended up being taken by ambulance to the ROH where she was admitted. She stayed one night and had steroids and whatnot - she remained very breathless on extertion when she came home but seems ok now.

It was all a bit hectic because I had to sort some clothes for Amanda, sort the boys and Ruby and Sam had his school show. Ay Caramba.

Anyway, its all good now baby - I will pop some snaps of Ruby on here when I manage to bluetooth them to my laptop.

How life is today.

Life is good. Ruby is beautiful and gets more pretty each and every day. I’m being objective here you understand. She is a joyful little thing especially at 4am which seems to be her preferred time for rising. At the mo, she is having a bottle of formula at 7pm and again when she rouses (at around midnight to 1am) - I am giving her these so when she wakes at 4am I have had usually the sum total of 4 hours sleep tops. Saying that, I do go off again whilst Amanda is staying awake a lot of the time from 4am.

Anyway, here is a picture of the beauty that is the Rubster.

The girls are home

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

After lots of blood tests for bilirubin levels yesterday and lots of time the day before under UV lights (and lots of tears from Amanda yesterday) I got a phone call at about 6pm from Amanda to say that Ruby was fit enough to come home.

Needless to say, I was very very happy! Me and the boys drove down and picked them up. Ruby *finally* came home at about 7pm. She had a pretty settled night feeding every 3 hours-ish.

Today she has stayed in much the same vein. She has spent a good part of the day sat in her seat next to the window soaking up the rays. The midwife came and had a look at was happy with what she saw.

The boys are ecstatic to have their mum and sister home at long last. To be honest, it was getting me down having to explain to them each day that she was a lot better but couldn’t yet come home.

Anyway, today we walked on (with my mum) to school to meet them and everyone came and had a good look at Ruby. She has had a lot of visitors today (Carol (a friend), my mum, Uncle Mark and Auntie Lisa (the copper!) - Mark seemed pretty smitten as he got hold of her at about 7 and didnt give her back till about 9:30 when he went home. He is planning on coming back this weekend with his girlfriend Holly.

I’ve only got one more week with Amanda and Ruby before I have to come back to work so am planning on making the most of it.

I will update the blog with details of our adventures as and when they happen. I will also put some pictures up that show her story from being born to coming home - as soon as I find the bluetooth dongle and copy them over.

Ciao for now,
The Laird.
