Then the usual swimming stylee weekend then back to work. Gulp.

Saying that, I might have a go at teaching Ruby some words other than daddy and OI!!!

image912729248.jpg… I shall mostly be swimming then shopping then cleaning. Tom has his lesson but I’m not going in this week.

Ruby has had a crap nights sleep and I can’t face going in and dealing with her Sam and Tom on my own.

Amanda is working today (over-time, woop woop) so we’re mum-less. Never a good thing.

Got to go - the Rubster has unleashed poo-maggedon.

Got my Boo back

image520305650.jpgShe has been at her grandparents the last two days to allow us to get into work. I have missed her something cruel. But hey she is back so it’s all good.

She beamed when she saw me. Lovely times. Absence couldn’t make the heart grow any fonder but still … It was good.

She is sat with her mummy right now chilling. My lovely girls.

Take it easy y’all

Pop Art and the 60’s

Monday, January 11th, 2010

image1347448184.jpgPOW!! Sam is creating pop art in his project on the 60’s so I made this to show him what it was.

His teacher asked then what they knew about the 60’s and he knew a little. He had heard of JFK so I taught him the “Ask not what your country can do for you…” quote. Suitably awed.

Also showed him some pictures from my 20th century in photos book. Burning Buddhist monks, Vietnam war, MLK and the like. Oo and hippies - flowers in your gun. Beautiful.

Beatle-mania. John Lennon getting married. First black into Mississippi uni. The police refusing to protect him.

A mixed decade to my eyes but decades since have been equally up and down I suppose.

I remember reading this book and thinking that the next Century had to be happier. Then the towers fell.

Wasn’t the best start was it?

Hmmm.
Yours,
A thoughtful daddy xx

Snow snow snow snow

Friday, January 8th, 2010

image1217081957.jpg…. And more snow. Been working from home all week cos of the snow and school being shut. It was open at the start of the week but they just had to give in.

This is Tom on the way to school.

We (whilst ‘working’ at home) has a good old time to be honest.

That’s all for today.

NYE 2009

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

image1849815295.jpgWell … Here it is. No plans to do anything tonight. Three kids means going out ain’t ever gonna happen. No matter. We’re having a play on Wii Resort with the little Wii-motion doo-dah.

Then off to the tip to dispose of the Christmas rubbish. Cor, the life I lead!

Peace be the journey,
Till 2010…

Ruby on Christmas morning

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

image407623432.jpgHow posh? She was delightful. Opened one present then just wanted to play with that one. She wasn’t interested - saying that she got a massive haul (more than the rest of is combined).

Sam got his x-box elite 250gb so he is happy. Tom got his iPod touch so he’s happy. I got my espresso machine so I’m happy (and a bit wired)

I’m off work till the 4th Jan (shame!) so will, until then, be mostly playing with toys.

Groovy baby

Christmas Day

Monday, December 28th, 2009

image163218874.jpgAbsolutely the best yet. My mum brother and partner (Holly) came as well as the in-laws. We had a great day too. Check Sam having his hair done at Rubys dressing table!

We leisurely opened the presents (Amanda cried) then went for a drink at the Liberal club in Meltham (don’t ask). Then all back to ours for a frankly excellent Christmas meal. Spicy parsnip soup then the traditional meal - with a choice of ham, turkey or beef.

Followed by drinks and then THE BEST DOCTOR WHO EVER!!! My God, how good??

Then we manfully tried to watch G&S and Catherine Tate but fell asleep.

I spent the night with my Ruby-Loo as Sis-in-law slept with the wife.

All in all a rocking day. All thanks to Amanda and the family.

O no it isn’t!

Christmas Day Out

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

image1672384214.jpgWe had a top day out yesterday. We went to a Christmas day out over in Yorkshire.

First off we all went in a Christmas maze. Me and the boys went bombing off whilst the girls and grandparents followed.

The boys then went on a ski trail (cross country) while we all walked through the Enchanted Forest along side them.

After a hot chocolate we then went Ice-skating (which despite my moaning) was the best part of the day. Dad rocks!

After a loooong queue we saw Father Christmas. Predictably the Rubster flipped and bawled. The boys were ace though. They both reverted to being little kids. I had to tell Santa what they wanted because they were so timid.

I was really impressed with Sam. Being ten I know he doesn’t believe any more but he was really mature and went along with it for the others sake.

It was a really lovely day. Christmas is my favourite time of the year especially with the kids.

It was great to spend a day having fun with Amanda too. Especially as she is going away for the start of next week. She is off to Warrington with work. It’s not very far but she is working late (and being taken out on the Monday). I am not terribly keen on this going away business but she needs to do it for work. I just miss her is all.

Keep rankin’
