The girls are home
After lots of blood tests for bilirubin levels yesterday and lots of time the day before under UV lights (and lots of tears from Amanda yesterday) I got a phone call at about 6pm from Amanda to say that Ruby was fit enough to come home.
Needless to say, I was very very happy! Me and the boys drove down and picked them up. Ruby *finally* came home at about 7pm. She had a pretty settled night feeding every 3 hours-ish.
Today she has stayed in much the same vein. She has spent a good part of the day sat in her seat next to the window soaking up the rays. The midwife came and had a look at was happy with what she saw.
The boys are ecstatic to have their mum and sister home at long last. To be honest, it was getting me down having to explain to them each day that she was a lot better but couldn’t yet come home.
Anyway, today we walked on (with my mum) to school to meet them and everyone came and had a good look at Ruby. She has had a lot of visitors today (Carol (a friend), my mum, Uncle Mark and Auntie Lisa (the copper!) - Mark seemed pretty smitten as he got hold of her at about 7 and didnt give her back till about 9:30 when he went home. He is planning on coming back this weekend with his girlfriend Holly.
I’ve only got one more week with Amanda and Ruby before I have to come back to work so am planning on making the most of it.
I will update the blog with details of our adventures as and when they happen. I will also put some pictures up that show her story from being born to coming home - as soon as I find the bluetooth dongle and copy them over.
Ciao for now,
The Laird.
